we are LEGION PART 1! building a CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD (old post)

Ive decided some of this POST will be done as Tutorials, to help explain how I Achieved certain looks, creations or sculpts with green stuff. Beginning with the CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD:

With everything clipped from the sprew I grabbed my bitz containers and went to work matching the pieces i wished to use to create each Terminator, As I Mentioned in the last post I've chosen to create one TERMINATOR LORD for Danielle's LEGION OF CHAOS, and TYPHUS the Plageous, in Terminator Armour  he will be made from the the AOBR Terminators, Which means lots of green stuff!-hence the tutorials!

The chaos Terminator with Lightning claws I originally chose to make will infact be put on hold until I aquire the CHAOS SPACEMARINES TERMINATOR box set, and use what extra bits i have left over from that boxset to complete him.

Each individual Terminator is deserving of his own POST, as well as to help keep things separated and flowing coherently when I link to everything to the new WEBSITE!

PART 1 Building a CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD

Beginning with Danielle's CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD:

He was a quick assembly as there wasn't any green stuff work that Danielle wanted done!

Danielle was very specific with what she wanted, match her new LORD OF CHAOS to Kranon the relentless and the rest of HER Chosen, use a human head to match the chosen champion, and make him look bad ass, lmao

We Chose to use the bottom chaos star edge rock base, for THE CHAOS LORDS round base.

She was very happy with his overall look!

Onto the Next TERMINATOR, TYHPUS THE PLAGEOUS...

Today I was suppose to work, rain has a way of changing that! I decided to take a break from painting since I'm not working, and do an entirely new post about four new conversions I plan to start today beginning with Danielles CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD for her army, a CHAOS TERMINATOR "Bezerker" with Lightning claws, a chaos sorcerer in power Armour (that I've drawn multiple different concept art for) that can act for both my NURGLE army and Danielles Legion of Chaos army, and finally for my NURGLE Army I will begin my custom TYPHUS the plageous, warlord of the Zombie horde.

Stay tuned ill be creating, taking pictures, editing and posting all through-out the day!!!

PAINTING TUTORIAL on how to paint "NURGLE ZOMBIE STANDARD BEARER" intro:

Welcome to CHIMERA MINIATURES first Painting tutorial on how to paint a "NURGLE ZOMBIE STANDARD BEARER". In this tutorial ill be painting a custom miniature, but the techniques we cover will allow you to apply any of these methods to whichever miniatures YOU are painting!

First off you will need:
  • Fine liner and Round paintbrushes, all fine grade.
  • Paints: most specifically  "CHIMERA MINIATURES Toxic Rot Green", citrus green, Green neon, Yellow neon, Citadel paints etc. I WILL LIST PAINTS AS WE USE THEM
  • Table light, magnify glass (or light magnifier it helps!)
  • Paint trays and wax paper for mixing paint.
  • Papertowels to wipe your brushes and clean your station, and a bowl of water.
  • and depending on your style: a Magnifier mount to mount your miniatures to.
MAKE SURE: your painting on a mat or newspaper of some kind as to not wreck your area, I use a cutting mat at my painting station, this all depends on your preferences.

AND SO IT BEGINS...

3. CHIMERA MINIATURES will be opening up our new store/studio in August! stay very much tuned for details on that one!!

Now...
Before I venture into What will be my first Painting tutorial, which is a more of "How to Paint NURGLE STANDARD BEARERS" Im going to first just do a quick post about Chimeras' Friday/Saturday purchases; Danielle and I both went to J&B Books Friday evening, we finally bought some new green stuff, a massive tube set. We aslo bought two new Army Painter Wargamer: insane detail brushes, Tons of Citadel layers and base paints, mostly colours for the NURGLE ZOMBIE ARMY, different grasses and shrubs (to add to my case) She of coarse grabbed the latest issue of The Walking Dead, and directed my attention to a re release of the very first issue, I couldn't help myself! Lastly I bought Danielle purple dice, and the Chaos Terminator lord pack, which i was very impressed by !

Saturday was much more brief grocery shopping, then Followed buy a purchase of two fine liner brushes, then to another store where I bought paint containers(two sets of four) and three tubes of paint, this is where it gets interesting: NEON PAINT

yes I said it, NEON. Its going to be a beautiful thing an entire army of TOXIC Nurgle face rotting skin eatin' vile flesh bags spewing rot EVERYWHERE, I can just picture it now EVERYWHERE!!!

out of the neon colours I purchased I was able to do some mixing, adding other greens and such and was able to add to CHIMERA MINIATURES new line of paints: this one is "Toxic Rot Green"

Container of Toxic Rot Green without labels or CHIMERAS' logo
Sorta reminds me of OOZE from TMNT2

Oh P.S.: J&B books, if you dont know it, is a local hobbyshop/comic book shop located in Trenton Ontario its one of the few locations that I venture for all my hobby needs! they can be found online here at: http://jandbbooks.com/

COME BACK NEXT TIME FOR MY NEW ONGOING TUTORIAL SERIES : How to paint "ZOMBIE NURGLE STANDARD BEARER" "Cronius the Bearer of Plagues"

Priming, The Chimera METHOD ~ also NURGLE ZOMBIE PRIMED and awaiting paint job!

Its roughly seven in the morning, Way to early for a post but its gonna happen! Can't sleep so I decided to Prime my Nurgle ZOMBIE Chaos Standard Bearer as well as a squad of my girlfriend Danielle's Sisters of Battle.

I decided while I was Priming, now would be a good time to give a quick tutorial on my Priming method

First off why is priming necessary: You will want to choose a good base coat primer that will stick to your Finecast miniature so that when you begin your painting process it has a good solid material to adhere to. If you choose to paint unprimed models they will likely have paint flakes and chips, and its layers will look rough and poorly textured causing the model to look porely painted. A primed model allows paint to smoothly adhere to its coating, and allows for Shadowing/shading affects in the painting process!

CAUTION: Always remember to spray in a well ventilated space, to wear eye protection, respiratory protection and to always abide by handling methods on hazardous chemicals

PRIMING
  1. First remove all Mold Lines, Glue Spots, excess Green Stuff or any unwanted remaining bits from the model you chose to prime
  2. wipe gently with emery clothe to remove all oils (mostly for vehicles)
  3. mount to Pin Drill or Puttied Spray Cap

  4. Hold 8 inches from spray can and then do a gentle left to right hand horizontal motion with the spray can across the model,
  5. Repeat process rotating the model to reveal each side (as well as above and partially below) until the model is 100% covered in primer touch up excess spots as needed.

Nurgle Zombie Standard Bearer
awaiting his future paint scheme!

I find I always like to prime in black very rarely do I paint with light paint tones so I dont prime in white. I use a Tremclad Primer or Krylon Dual Paint + Primer its best to let the mini dry over night before painting, however I find they tend to dry within minutes of application!

This method is best for quick priming individual models, for priming larger quantities of models such a full squads or armies I prefer to mount them all to a board, with puddy and spray each side rotating all models at once and re spraying.

NURGLE STANDARD BEARER complete!

Last night I sculpted the the rotten vile standard, for the Nurgle Zombie. After I finished with the standard I went over the bearer and finished green stuffing his joints and other unfinished areas!

Now that Ive completed the Standard Bearer I've moved on to illustrating more concept art for the rest of my ZOMBIE-NURGLE army, however my building process has been put on hold util i get to J&B books this weekend to buy more GREENSTUFF.

Concept art for Nurgle Standard Bearers' Standard!

Heres a quick post of the final Concept  art for FIRST SQUAD's Damned Nurgle Standard Bearers' standard. Instead of the regular chaos star I felt it more accurate to represent the army with a more Nurglish approach...

This was the final design choice I decided to sculpt last evening...
Finished sculpted photos in the next post...

Customed Nurgle standard Bearer! and a heads up from chimera miniatures

Its been way to long, and way too much has changed, in the next month you will see the launch of chimera studios website, dealing in the painting and customization in both warhammer 28mm models, as well as 1 6th scale zombies/ face sculpts. Its been over two years since I posted anything to this blog, many would have suspected I hung up the towel, on the contrary, Ive been working harder then ever...

Over the last two days I've been sculpting a NURGLE chaos standard bearer, for my future zombie Nurgle/chaos army!
A face only a MOTHER could love...

Stare into the eyes of Terror

His standard is yet to be finished, I've drawn out three different style rotting flesh ideas to be molded and I'm still contemplating on which one to choose, I've also considered adding an element of gore to the ripper blade.

Im currently working on sculpting a "walker" for this army named reaper, he's being sculpted from super sculpty then green stuff added for the finer deffinitions. Ill post pictures of what i currently have done sometime this weekend!

By all accounts I have a small collection of Warhammer thats slowly turning into an abyss of miniatures, Ill be selling off some of my Personal collection in the next few months as well as im STILL DOING COMMISSIONS email chimera-miniatures@hotmail.com for any inquiries
