What you'll need:
Plywood board
Lots of Packaging Styrofoam
Elmer's glue/hot glue
Elmer's spray adhesive!
Cheap scenic grass and sands
Scenic rocks
Airbrush!
ands paint!
As well for personal protection while spraying:
Throwaway Nitrile gloves
Respirator/Dust mask!
I used a 4ft by 3ft door cut door: Ply wood is a far better option, but I use to get these half cut doors free from work, or they'd be burned!
This battle board will be one of three boards that attach together! But for now its all right or kill team games, 500 point games and small skirmishes
Begin by carefully creating Styrofoam ruins- by carefully I mean Crushing it with your big a** feet lol:
Use hot clue (Elmer's glue works better but takes longer to dry) to glue the Pieces down, and if you have tooth picks tooth pick them in to the other pieces of Styrofoam!
Once everything has its own chosen place, and is Glued, and dried: Take a can of Elmer's spray adhesive, and in a well ventilated place (wearing gloves and a ventilator mask as it is poisonous) Spray the board
Mix together all three of your cheap hobby basing supplies, I.e. the rocks sand and grass!
You may wonder why use grass but it helps create a textured effect on the ground, feel free to save a bunch for after its painted in which you just spray adhesive the boar din places and sprinkle the grass and bamo! you have a grassy board!
As far as "hobby scenic rocks" or even hobby grass! the cheaper alternatives for these products (as they are both extremely expensive for little to no product) Cheap cat litter, thats the rocky non absorbent kind, as well as for the fake grass and sand, chilli powder is a heck of an alternative!
As you spray Sprinkle Hobby rocks and cheap scenic grass( for texture) and Sand that you've mixed all over the board! you may find you have to even srpay over top of the already layed mix, to keep it adhered!
Let dry for a few hours, and then let the airbrushing begin, Refrain from using spray paint as it contains acetone, which in fact eats Styrofoam and can ruin your project!
Heres the project half airbrushed:
